Update Message from Carol Ruth Silver,
Freedom Rider,
Chair of the 40th Anniversary Reunion, November 8-11, 2001:

     After the 2001 Reunion celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides, various minor updates were made to this site, and one major one:  posting of the Proclamation which was issued by the Governor of Mississippi declaring Freedom Riders Day in Mississippi.  (Other than introducing a few typos, his staff presented the Proclamation to him, and he signed it, exactly as it had been written by me and sent to his office a few days before.)  
     I want to thank and acknowledge Craig Newmark for being our first webmaster and for hosting this site on craigslist.com.  I also want to thank and acknowledge David Lisker, who acted as CEO of the Reunion, and in every respect performed effectively and cheerfully under very difficult circumstances.
